🎓 Classroom mode: a guide for teachers

Classroom mode puts Lala Words' picture games on your projector, TV or interactive board, so the whole class plays and learns together. It is free and needs no account. Here is everything you need for your first lesson.

You need
A projector, TV or interactive board

1. Before the lesson

  • A computer connected to a projector, TV or interactive board. Speakers help, so the class hears every word.
  • A recent browser (Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox). Nothing to install.
  • Open the lesson once before class: the pictures load in advance, so it runs smoothly even on weak school Wi-Fi.

2. Make a lesson in a minute

  1. Open Classroom and choose the language your class is learning.
  2. Choose a way to present: Word cards, Picture quiz A–D, Mystery tiles, What's missing?, Word wheel, Stand up, sit down, Swat it!, Team tic-tac-toe or Picture bingo.
  3. Add a whole topic, or open it and pick single words (up to 60).
  4. Choose the teams (or no scores) and whether the words are shuffled.
  5. Save the lesson with a name, then press Present.

3. Controls while presenting

Use the keyboard, a presenter clicker, or the buttons on screen (handy on an interactive board).

4. Teams and scores

Choose 2, 3 or 4 teams. Each team has its own color and score on the screen, and a podium shows the winners at the end.

With "No scores", the whole class plays together: a calm option for the youngest children.

5. Save, reuse and share lessons

  • Saved lessons stay in this browser on this device: open them again next week, edit them or present them straight away.
  • "Share link" copies a link with the lesson's words and settings. A colleague who opens it gets the same lesson, ready to save.
  • "Recently played" lists your past plays with their scores, so you can see what each class has already played.

Questions teachers ask

Is classroom mode really free?

Yes. Presenting in class is free, without daily limits and without an account.

Do I need an account?

No. Lessons are saved on your device. If you like, sign in with Google or Apple and your lessons follow you to every computer.

Does it work offline?

Once a lesson has been opened, its pictures are kept by the browser, so a weak connection is fine.

Which languages can my class learn?

English, Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, French, German and Indonesian; the explanations show in the language of the site.

Is it safe for children?

There are no ads, no tracking and nothing to sign up for. Children only see pictures and words chosen by you.
