Word wheel: spin and say it

A big wheel of the lesson's pictures. Spin it: where it stops, the class or a team says the word, acts it out, or makes a sentence with it. Every word comes up once, so the whole lesson gets reviewed.

Sample lesson: 8 animal words in Spanish, 2 teams. Free, no account.

A projector, TV or interactive board

How it goes in class

  1. Pick the words and, if you like, the teams.
  2. Press → to spin. The wheel slows down and stops on a picture.
  3. The class or the team whose turn it is says the word, acts it or uses it in a sentence.
  4. Press → to show the word and hear it; give a point with 1–4. Spin again.

Tips for teachers

  • Decide the task before spinning: say it, act it, draw it in the air, or say a sentence.
  • Older children: the team has to say a sentence with the word to win the point.
  • Use it at the start of a lesson to warm up, or at the end to review.

Questions teachers ask

Can a word come up twice?

No. Each spin picks a word not drawn yet; when only a few are left, words already drawn fill the wheel.

How many words fit on the wheel?

Up to twelve at a time, so the pictures stay big enough to see from the back.

Can I show the word without spinning?

Yes. Press R at any time.
